This holiday season brightens so many lives of my fellow cocktail lovers out there. Christmas is such a wonderful time for baking, cooking and gift-giving. Most of all, it’s the perfect time for cocktail-making!
For extra warmth this season, we encourage you to try this Mulled Wine recipe. Mulled Wine was rooted in the ancient Roman era where people loved to heat up their wine with spices. Drinking mulled wine has become part of the tradition of the Romans to help keep their bodies warm amidst the coldness of winters.
The Mulled Wine recipe of today has plenty of variations. People have learned to use different spices including cardamom, pepper and ginger. Some people use herbs while others prefer to stick to traditional warming spices when creating the perfect Mulled Wine for their guests and loved ones.
In the absence of red wine, you can also make Mulled Wine using unoaked tempranillo. Feel free to create your own version. As you can see, there are many versions of this cocktail recipe as there are European bars where you can try it.
The best thing about Mulled Wine is the fact that you do not have to spend a lot of money on expensive brands of wine. As long as you have a bottle of a good grenache, cabernet sauvignon, syrah or zinfandel, you’re good to go!
